Indonesian Landslide Death Toll Almost Reaches One Hundred

(MENAFN) The confirmed number of fatalities from a landslide in West Java, Indonesia, has risen to 85 as search and rescue operations continue into their 12th day, according to reports.

Rescue teams have recovered additional bodies at the site, increasing the death toll to 85, while authorities have not released further information. The search is still underway for those missing. Earlier, officials from the Bandung Search and Rescue Agency noted that 10 individuals remained unaccounted for when the death toll was previously reported at 70.

The landslide hit a village in West Bandung Regency on January 24, engulfing dozens of homes under mud and debris. Efforts to locate survivors continue in the region, which presents challenging terrain for rescue workers.
